888-5-OPTOUT confusion

There was an email sent around a when ago saying 888-5-OPTOUT was a very good place to go to get out of losing info, although the info was not clear. As outlined by the email, info would be given to “anyone who requests it” unless you opted out with the number. The Financial Services Modernization Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act would both be violated if this happened, reports Clearinghouse. 888-5-OPTOUT is not connected to either of these laws which is what was confusing. Thus, the controversy was somewhat minor.

888-5-OPTOUT could be really helpful for the users using it. Avoid the credit card trap, stay away from identity theft and maybe you’ll be in a position where you won’t need poor credit loans.
