Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres leave the Idol stage

The reality has set in for “American Idol” fans that Simon Cowell is no longer a part of the show. The real scare now is that everyone is abandoning ship. Ellen DeGeneres explained to her adoring public that she is leaving “AI”. Not only that, but as outlined by the L.A. Times, Kara DioGuardi has been let go. That leaves Randy Jackson and empty seats that may very well be filled by Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler.

’American Idol’ has come on hard times

Clearly Fox, also as Nigel Lythgoe and also the “American Idol” production group, think you will find still ratings to be squeezed from the aging yet still popular program. Deadline.com claims that Jennifer Lopez will be coming on as Kara DioGuardi’s replacement when Season 10 begins in January, but nothing has been confirmed. Coincidentally, Lopez started her career as a dancer, much like Paula Abdul. A Lopez return to Fox may remind a few of her stint as a dancer on “In Living Color”.

’AI’ is losing ground, but nevertheless popular

While “American Idol” remains America’s most-watched television program, the loss of viewers in recent seasons gave the producers pause. The Times writes the “AI” team was close to giving Ellen DeGeneres the ax. Nevertheless, the producers allowed Ellen to leave rather than firing her as they did DioGuardi. Ellen was non-confrontational in a statement- “A couple months ago, I let Fox and also the ‘American Idol’ producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me”. She knew what everybody already knew from day one- that she wasn’t comfortable giving singers musical advice.

”We love Ellen and understand and support her decision to bow out of ‘Idol’,” said Fox Networks Group chairman Peter Rice.

The chemistry was wrong

”American Idol” Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe knew that Kara, Simon and Randy didn’t click without Paula Abdul. Adding a visibly uncomfortable Ellen DeGeneres to the mix only served to underscore that fact. At one point, Lythgoe speculated that if he could have his pick of judges, he’d take Usher, Elton John and Paula Abdul. However, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler have garnered probably the most attention of late.

Steven Tyler won’t tell

Gossip site X17 Online spotted Steven Tyler outside the Sunset Marquis hotel in Los Angeles and asked for his take. Allegedly, Tyler would be made head judge, the role once played by Simon Cowell. Tyler revealed absolutely nothing. On the other hand, he also didn’t deny that he could be a part of “American Idol’s” future.
