Numerous automobile of the year awards slant to green cars

Various automobiles are being dubbed Car of the year by numerous agencies, foundations and publications. There isn’t a tried and true method of distinguishing a vehicle of the year, but that certainly doesn’t stop anyone. This year seems seriously tipped in favor of green automobiles.

Volt called Automobile of the year

The Chevrolet Volt and the Nissan Motors Leaf are both green vehicles obtaining Car of the year honor attention as they are both anticipated. Wired reports the Volt, at the Los Angeles Auto Show, won Vehicle of the year. General Motors was excited to win this award. Chevy Volt Automobile of the year honors were also given out by Motor Trend and Automobile magazines, which are prestigious within the industry. Part of the judging for the LA Auto Show had Carroll Shelby, performance guru and automotive legend. Jay Leno was on the judging panel also. The Nissan Motors Leaf and the Chevy Volt, both green cars, differ in the Volt is a plug-in hybrid, and the Leaf is totally electric.

The Leaf gets the honor for Auto of the year also

The Telegraph reports that the 2011 European Vehicle of the year may be the Nissan Leaf. The European Auto of the year is selected by a voting panel from numerous European automotive journals. From 23 nations, 58 judges showed up. If you don't count golf carts, the Nissan Leaf may be the first car manufactured on a major scale that is completely electric. In fact, on all American Auto of the year votes, it was second to the Chevy Volt with a very close loss. The two automobiles may have an epic showdown at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show.

Auto of the world coming soon

In spring of 2011, the World Automobile of the year will be announced, as votes are being compiled. Though severe authorities are weighing in on the best automobiles of 2010, it seems the best vehicle of a year shouldn’t be picked until years later. The makes and models that last are the automobiles that should be recognized.
