The play called ‘For Colored Girls’

The play “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf," was written by Ntozake Shange. This happened in 1975. The stories of seven different black women are told through the poems in the play. The identification of the women is done by the color they wear. Lady in Red and Lady in Green are examples of this. In 1977, the play had been nominated for a Tony for Best Play. Since then, it has been awarded Tony Award for Best Featured Actress, Theater World Award and Drama Desk Award.

’For Colored Girls’ as a movie

Tyler Perry wrote and produced the "For Colored Girls" movie. It was also directed by him. Tyler Perry’s participation in the “For Colored Girls” movie has been questioned by lots of people. The adaption into a movie is really pretty good though. The "For Colored Girls" movie has a script which tries to get via the plays' poems. At times, it is a powerful and moving effect. At others, the poems nearly seem to distract from the storyline.

’For Colored Girls’ movie has great performance

The performances within the "For Colored Girls" movie were very strong. The all-star cast of strong women gives an incredibly strong showing. Whoopi Goldberg, Macy Gray, and Janet Jackson all have parts in the movie. Since the movie has a lot of 1975 language in it, it feels a little "old" for a modern movie which makes it feel "off" every so often. The movie "For Colored Girls" is a movie you should go see. You need to watch the play though if you ever get the chance.
