Nintendo Wii games are shedding acceptance

Within the motion-sensing video game industry, the Wii has controlled the majority of the market for years. However, brand new numbers are telling otherwise. Recent reports show that more and more customers are moving away from the Wii system and turning to rival game consoles for entertainment purposes. It appears that the Wii, one of the few prominent video game systems within the 21st century, is fading more and more in popularity. Nintendo needs to create and introduce a new creation fast to match with its competitors if they want to return to good growth.

This season is poor for Nintendo Wii

Leading U.K. video games retailer GAME blames Nintendo’s consoles for the decline in revenue and sales this year. Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS consoles had a 40 percent drop in sales compared to last year, reports Gamestation. The Wii does not seem to interest individuals anymore. The United States of America customers are moving away from it. According to Conceivably Tech, August shipment numbers looked very troubling for Nintendo. 244,000 Wii’s were shipped then. The Xbox had 357,000 360 sales while the PS3 had at least 226,000. That makes Nintendo Wiis look weak.

Overall game console sales are in a state of decline. Nintendo probably will not stay within the lead with these trends without performing something large. The Japanese video game giant likely will not be arriving out with a brand new Wii console. There will not be a Wii console ready until 2012 although there may be one introduced next season.

Movement sensing games rivaling

There are now some huge competitors with the Wii. The Wii remote was mimicked by Sony with the PlayStation Move that came out earlier this year. It has better movement sensor technology in it than the Wii remotes though. Word is that Microsoft will even join forces with Kinect, a camera-based system that eliminates the need for hand controllers altogether. A user is recorded with microphones, cameras and sensors. This allows the system to know what the user is doing. In November it will supposedly be available. Marketing is being planned by both businesses carefully. They are marketing for the upcoming holidays.
